Grassrootz Lead Civility Pledge

We may not always agree, but we will always choose respect.

At Grassrootz Lead, we believe strong communities are built through respect, understanding, and shared humanity. We know people will not always agree, but we believe we can still listen, speak, and engage with one another in a way that protects dignity and builds understanding.

By taking this pledge, I commit to:

Listen with respect
I will listen to understand, not just to respond. I will allow others the space to speak and be heard.

Speak with care
I will express my views honestly, but without insult, aggression, or intimidation.

Value difference
I will respect that people come from different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, and that disagreement does not remove dignity.

Choose facts over hostility
I will seek truth, ask questions, and engage thoughtfully rather than spreading harm, fear, or misinformation.

Reject personal attacks
I will challenge ideas where needed, but I will not shame, belittle, or dehumanise others.

Make space for everyone
I will help create an environment where people feel safe to contribute, especially those whose voices are often overlooked.

Stay rooted in community
I will remember that civic engagement is not about winning arguments at all costs, but about helping build fairer, stronger, and more connected communities.

Lead by example
I understand that the way I show up matters. I will model civility, accountability, and respect in my words and actions.

Pledge statement

I pledge to engage with others in a spirit of civility, respect, and responsibility.
I will use my voice with integrity, listen with openness, and treat others with dignity, even when we disagree.
I commit to helping create conversations and communities that are thoughtful, inclusive, and grounded in our shared humanity.
